QCC UPDATE: December 2022

Upcoming Annual Holiday Giveaway

The Questa Creative Council is once again preparing gifts of art supplies to give to kids Monday, Dec. 19 through Friday, Dec.23, at the Questa Public Library. This year, rather than having age-appropriate kits pre-assembled, school-aged children can choose their own supplies; so, whatever level of artistic interest and ability your kids and grandkids have, they are sure to find some useful and fun tools to develop their creativity.

Donations are being accepted through Dec. 15. If you can give, visit the creative council’s website, QuestaCreative.org. On the home page scroll down to the red Donate button. Select “Art Kits for School-Aged Kids” and follow the directions. Donations are tax-deductible and will be used immediately for this worthy cause. Many thanks go to the co-founder of this non-profit, Peggy Trigg, for keeping this project going.

An exciting year of creativity…

The year 2022 was exciting for all creative council projects and music played a big part. Yoga Sala studio hosted a classical music concert of Latin-American composers and a recent All Souls musical evening with local duo, Bone Orchard. More local musicians were sponsored by the creative council with performances at the Questa Farmers Market this past summer. Summer also saw an annual celebration of our Questa History Trail, and a post-COVID resurrection of the Art for All workshop series at the Questa Youth and Family Center. Weaving, poetry, and expressive acrylic painting were featured, and there are plans for even more diverse workshops in 2023!

And, of course, the annual annual Questa Studio Art Tour was bigger and better than ever this past summer. More local artists are taking part each year, adding to the diversity of art that is offered, making this August event a bigger and bigger draw for visitors from Taos County, further afield in northern New Mexico, and increasingly from out of state.

The Questa Creative Council is doing its part to support our community’s redevelopment, and you can support this non-profit with a year-end donation, or simply stay tuned to see what this exciting team comes up with in 2023. As ever, your creative council invites your ideas and participation! Contact us at questacreativecouncil@gmail.com or through our website, questacreative.org.
