The Questa Ladycats basketball team have continued playing well this season, with a record of 16-7 going into their matchup with the district leading Mesa Vista Lady Trojans, on Saturday, February 17th. The Ladycats were ranked 7th in the state. Questa had won six of their last eight games and were in third place in the district behind Mesa Vista and Penasco.
Before Saturday’s game with Mesa Vista, the Ladycats had been led in scoring this season by Sophomore Alyse Lovato, with 12.6 per game. Lovato also leads Questa with 6.8 rebounds per game and 5.3 steals per game. Kamryn Cardnas has also played well, scoring 9.5 points per game, as well as leading the team in assists with 4.3 per game. Alianna Gonzales has scored 8.8 points per game, also. Aliyah Santistevan has also scored 8.3 points per game. Aside from Lovato, these three players are all Juniors.
The future looks bright for the Ladycats with four different scoring options, however, there is still a long way to go left in this season.
Questa’s next game was on the road, visiting McCurdy on February 20th, and their regular season finale was at home on Saturday, February 24th, against Penasco.
