Mayor John A. Ortega, Councilor Louise Gallegos, Village of Questa Project Manager Jake LaFore, and representatives from the state of New Mexico, Chevron, River Bend Engineering, and NV5 gathered on a blustery Friday morning on November 18 to commemorate the completion of the Red River Restoration Project.
The event began at 10:00 am and continued for approximately forty-five minutes. Representatives from New Mexico’s Department of Game & Fish restocked some 350 trout into the river as part of the plan to reinvigorate the Questa area as a fishing location.
Chris Philips of River Bend Engineering provided NM Game & Fish with various public access points along the river for purposes of monitoring trout populations in the future. Restoration efforts now move to a company called Pathfinder Environmental based in Santa Fe which has a 3-year contract with the Village to monitor the new structural habitats along the river.
