Village officials and members of the Questa Independent School District (QISD) are working together to update access issues and needed improvements to a Village well that sits past school property.
On Sept. 19 a group including Questa Mayor John Ortega, Councilors Louise Gallegos and Katrina Gonzales, Village of Questa Projects Manager Jake Lefore, Village Attorney Chris DeFillippo, QISD Superintendent John Maldonado, School Board Member Juan Cisneros, and QISD Maintenance Supervisor Robert Martinez toured a Village of Questa water well behind the Questa High School. They discussed an update to the easement defining the property boundaries between the Village well and the high school.
Because the Village-operated well sits on a small piece of property behind the high school surrounded by QISD property, the Village and the school district are cooperating to upgrade the fencing around the property, add a gate to the well’s access road, as well as to service the access road.
The Village and QISD are currently drawing up documents to make the required property updates; there is no deadline for the updates. Superintendent Maldonado expects construction to begin at the end of the 2022-2023 academic year.
