Your Questa Public Library is not just books, it’s your connection to our community and to the wider world.
You can start connecting by visiting our website at https://questalibrary.org/. We have many materials that you can access from your home computer or cellphone. The resources page has links to a wide range of government, health, jobs, legal, local, and other information.
“Search the Library!” connects to digital book and audiobook collections through Libby, Project Gutenberg’s thousands of free eBooks, as well as LibriVox book recordings and the biomedical and life sciences research literature at PubMed Central.
The Questa Public Library History Archive offers historical photos of Questa and surrounding areas, photos and videos of the moly mine, and indexes of Questa history items that are available at the library. If you can’t find what you want here, you can call or email us to request an interlibrary loan for a wide range of materials. Our librarians are happy to help you with finding what you need.
Even better is coming in person to our library. You can speak with our librarians to help you find what you need and access historical items from the QPL History Archive as well as the library’s extensive book collection about our local history, geology, and natural resources.
Browse our books and our very popular DVD collection, which are available for checking out on your library card. (If you don’t already have a library card, we’re happy to sign you up for one.) And spend time catching up with a current art or historical exhibit on the library walls.
Perhaps you want to interact with our community—even make new friends! We have regular community programs such as the Questa book club, which meets every third Monday from 3 to 5 p.m., to discuss the latest books. There is also the Dropped Stitch club, which meets every Thursday at 2:30 p.m. where you can knit, crochet, and sew (or learn how!) and catch up on local news.
For our very young folks, ages 0 to 3, the Wildcat Kitty Club provides storytelling and play opportunities. And when school is out during the summer, our Summer Reading Program delivers a wide range of exciting activities for children ages 4 through 10.
You can keep up to date with all of these activities on the Library’s Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/questalibrary/. Here you will also find notices of special events at the library—art exhibits by members of our community, lectures on subjects of local interest and historical topics, our very popular big truck event, book sales, and musical events. Also check the bulletin board at the post office for event notices.
On the practical side, we offer free computer and internet access for adults and specialized, child-friendly computer access for our youngsters. A state-of-the-art copy machine is available for printing and copying for a small fee.
Many of our community organizations use the library’s spacious meeting space. Most recently, the Questa Business Bridge provides programming at the library that “Connects the Community to Business Resources, Training, and Services” through interactive workshops, one-on-one consulting, mentorships, and other resources. Questions regarding the opportunities at the Business Bridge can be directed to Lynn Skall at lynn@QuestaEDF.com
But perhaps you just want to relax and take a break from your busy life. You can do that too at our library. Our new garden with its spectacular view of the mountains, a gurgling fountain, and beautiful flowers and plantings, when in season, is just the place!
Questa is a small community, but we have a terrific public library, and it’s not just books. Come and check us out! We are located just off Route 522 next to the Questa Youth and Family Center and just north of the Questa Health Center. We’re currently open Monday through Saturday from noon to 5 p.m., but we will be announcing new extended hours soon. Call us at (575) 586-2023 or email us at library@VillageOfQuesta.org. We hope to see you soon!
