Cannabis connoisseurs from across New Mexico gathered Tuesday evening, May 20, at the Oasis Events Center in Albuquerque to crown the state’s top marijuana products in the annual “Best in Grass” competition.
Judged exclusively by consumers, the event offered a grassroots approach to quality control. Hundreds of New Mexicans participated, sampling kits distributed statewide starting Feb. 22. Judges had until April 27 to evaluate products ranging from pre-rolls to syrups and beverages.
Among the standout participants was Yerba Cannabis Co., a locally owned dispensary from Questa, which earned accolades in two competitive categories. The shop claimed third place in the pre-roll category for its Super Boof Pre Roll and took home second place in the flower micro-license division for its Chimera micro flower.
“It’s a great feeling representing Questa on a statewide level and bringing home these awards to show our product is superior in quality,” owner Michael Nezi says.
The event drew entries from across the state and highlighted the growing diversity and quality of New Mexico’s cannabis industry. Winners were announced in front of a lively crowd of industry insiders, consumers, and advocates, celebrating both product excellence and the evolving cannabis culture in the Southwest.
Opening its doors in mid-April, Nezi says the dispensary has seen a strong start. “We had a great month so far and we’re excited to continue growing and serving the people,” Nezi says.
Yerba Cannabis Co. is open Monday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information about the company, visit https://www.yerbacannabiscompany.com/.
