Dig Pink/Cancer Awareness

During the month of October, many of us honor those with breast cancer by wearing pink and donating money or contributing to the cure for cancer. At Questa Jr./Sr. High School we do things just a little bit differently. Our hope is to honor, recognize, and help our “local warriors and heroes” by making a cash donation to assist them and their families as they undergo treatment.

This money, of course, can be used in any way patients and families see fit, but past candidates have used their funds on medical expenses, gas, food, trips, bills, etc. This year our Ladycat Volleyball Teams in grades 7 through 12 sold over 300 cancer awareness T-shirts in roughly 1-1/2 weeks! Our entire profit was then divided and shared with three locals in need: Sabrina Cintas (Mascareñas), Cleve Rael, and Clarence LaCome. After expenses we had $853 to donate to each recipient.

Chris and Celina Trujillo and Northern Designs made a donation in the amount of $300. This left each recipient just $50 shy of $1,000 each. Siblings Alexis and Porfirio Brown and Alyana León donated the rest of the money to ensure that each recipient received a total of $1,000

Alyssah Duran, from Alyssah’s Creation Station, donated handmade tumblers for each warrior. On behalf of the Questa Ladycats we would just like to thank the community for their continued support of our fundraising efforts and wish healing and blessings upon “our local warriors.”
