Ben “Speedy” Gonzales, age 77, a resident of Questa, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2023.
He was preceded in death by his son Johnny Gonzales; parents Frank and Ruth Gonzales; grandpa Jose Bailon; in-laws Manuel and Idela Romero; and brother-in-law Manuel Romero, Jr.

For many years Ben was employed by the Moly Mine in Questa and Questa public schools. He loved to provide for his family and worked very hard until the very end. Ben especially loved his grandchildren.
Ben is survived by his wife Sally Gonzales; son Ben Gonzales, Jr; grandchildren Izziah Gonzales, Micah Gonzales, Mariah Jane Gonzales, Zachariah Gonzales and Hezekiah Gonzales; daughter-in-law Pastor Kristi Gonzales; siblings Mary Anne Romero (Ernie), Joann Gonzales (Patrick), Mary Jean Gonzales and Mark Gonzales (Rena); plus many loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Public visitation was held on Tuesday December 19 in the Evergreen Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home. His Celebration of Life was at Living Word Ministries in Questa with burial following at the Pueblito Cemetery.
