People from the community came out in great numbers for the 35th annual Cambalache celebration on Sunday, October 1. Live music kept the energy light as attendees visited booths of local vendors at the final Questa Farmers Market in this annual season-ending event.
The Quetta Vigil Frito-Pie-Eating contest was held once again this year with both adult and kid categories. Contestants were charged a two-dollar entry fee. The time limit to gobble as many pies as they could was two minutes.
The day wound down with the burning of the Cucui right around 5 p.m., People sent their peñas — the worries, anxieties, hurts, and grudges — up in smoke over the Sangre de Cristo Valley, releasing these things which no longer serve them.
