Ten Years Of Growth

Courtesy Margaret Lejuste: Melissa Brown admires the patio underwritten by her grandfather, Dr. Larry Brown

The Questa Public Library hosted a reception on Sunday, July 16 to thank and honor those who contributed to the growth and success of the Questa Public Library over the past ten years.

Among those in attendance were Senator Bobby Gonzales, Questa Mayor John Ortega, Kit Carson Electric Coooperative CEO Luis Reyes, Taos Community Foundation representative Tanner Martin, LOR Foundation representative Maria Gonzalez, and numerous community members who made individual donations
Of special note was the appearance of Melissa Burns and her children, representing her grandfather Dr. Larry Brown, who donated funds for a patio in honor of his deceased wife, Charlotte, when the library’s new wing was first constructed.

The building of the patio, intended to provide a place for visitors to enjoy the view of the Questa mountains they so often admired, led to the realization that the entire back area of the library needed to be renovated.

The library would like to send a special thanks to the Outdoor Recreation Trails+ grant from the New Mexico Recreation Department. Thanks to them, the patio now leads to a lovely outdoor space, designed and constructed by Gecko Landscaping of Taos.

The event was catered by Erica Apodaca, with music provided by local cellist Mark Dudrow.
