Last month we discussed some differences between esoteric and traditional astrology. This month we discuss a planetary rulership which never changes from traditional astrology through esoteric astrology and even into the third level of astrology known as Hierarchical Astrology, which will manifest much later. Through all three currently known levels, the Sun remains the ruler of Leo, the sign we are currently in. The strength of this continuing partnership is based on the evolution of the Sun itself, the master planet of our solar system. Kingly Leo deserves this partnership because of the transformations of the consciousness of humanity occurring in our solar system. The Ray of our Solar System (Esoteric Psychology or the Science of the Seven Rays) is the Second Ray of Love-Wisdom: Love wisely applied and Wisdom lovingly applied. Leo rules love; the Sun rules our Solar System. Clearly, it was a “partnership made in heaven.”
Any planet in its own “natural” sign is stronger than in any other sign. Need anyone question the strength of the sun in late July and early August? Need anyone question the strength of the role that love plays in our lives? While summer may seem to be a great time for falling or being in love, the higher meaning of love in esoteric astrology is unconditional love. True, unconditional love is not attached to emotion, to the need for approval or the expectation of a returned love. It is the pure form of love which includes everything that is. It recognizes that all of creation comes from the Source and therefore, We are all One. During this long, record-setting hot summer, remembering who we really are and what we are really made of — Love — would truly be wise.
