QCC UPDATE: April 2023

Upcoming opportunities to get involved

The Questa Creative Council is urging the community to get involved in the community this spring. “It’s time to fill up our calendars with things that bring life to our bones and stimulate our minds and hearts for the better,” the council said in a release. Do you have an artistic ability you are passionate about sharing with your community? The QCC would love to collaborate with you. They want to remind the public that there is an open invitation to join the Questa Creative Council’s growing roster of workshop leaders to contribute to the Art-for-All project. Detailed below are the upcoming opportunities to get involved with the council.

PANDEMIC POETRY:

Registrations to participate in Pandemic Poetry are encouraged. You can register by emailing Betsy Irwin at questacreativecouncil@gmail.com.
POETRY BASICS: April 1 @ Questa Youth Center
The morning session 9 a.m.-noon is for youth, ages 12 and over (under 12 with parent’s help). The afternoon session from 1-4 p.m. will serve adults and youth ages 16 and over.
Fun Activities: blackout poetry, using a marker to black out words in a newspaper to create a poem; ekphrastic poetry, free verse, and a take-home exercise. Betsy will be available to help students in the two weeks between workshops.

THE 3 P’S of P3: April 15 @ Questa Youth Center
Practice, Personification, and Performance. On this Saturday workshop, the focus will be on developing poems created from the first session, for performance. (And other poets who didn’t attend Poetry Basics, but want to perform on the 29, should attend this workshop).

PERFORMANCE: April 22 @ Yoga Sala

Saturday, April 22, from 1:30 to 3 p.m., there will be a practice session. The performance “dress rehearsal” will be on Saturday, April 29 and the final performance from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Yoga Sala.

QUICK DRAW:
Questa will be hosting a Quick Draw on June 24 and 25 for artists and painters to create in the open Questa air. There will be judging and prizes awarded and area youth are invited to participate and the council will be providing free painting supplies. More information on this event is forthcoming, however, if you have any immediate questions, reach out to questacreativecouncil@gmail.com.
