LUNAR ECLIPSE

On May 16 our full Moon will include a complete lunar eclipse. It will be visible everywhere in North America. Full moons are always a time for bringing plans to fruition. Eclipses are opportunities for change. This particular full Moon/eclipse is also a test: the Sun is in the sign of Taurus, and both the Earth and Moon are in the sign of Scorpio. Like most opposites, these two signs rule very similar things. Taurus rules money and energy, such as gasoline, and gripping/squeezing while Scorpio rules other people’s money, blocking/obstructing, and the energy that gets things done. So it goes with all oppositions, but these qualities come out more when the Moon is full. Certainly, we can see where these issues of energy and money, obstructing and squeezing are already occurring in our world today. The eclipse may bring this to a head and/or it could show us the change that needs to occur.
When a lunar eclipse occurs, the full moon passes through the Earth’s shadow so the light will seem to go out. Gradually the moon will take on a rusty, blood red color, the color of Scorpio. While Scorpio sometimes gets a bad rap, it is also the sign of rebirth after being tested. Perhaps we can use this powerful energy of the eclipse to join together in resolving to come out of global conflicts, like the Phoenix rising from the fire, immortal, and with tears that can heal.
