This year’s Fourth of July Celebration was held on Tuesday, July 4. Locals and visitors alike flooded Red River’s Main Street as children fervently gathered candy thrown from the slowly passing floats.
Red River Conference Center Coordinator Shena Cannon says the town had record participation. Many of the people who traveled to Red River for the parade stayed in town, to visit local shops and restaurants as they enjoyed the day. “We got a lot of great feedback from the community; a lot of people were saying they were really happy with the way the day went,” she says.
Next year, she hopes to get more vendors to participate, potentially including face painters or a snow cone stand. She is also wanting more diverse options for games for people of all ages to play.
“Our community came out and enjoyed the holiday together, and it was an amazing day,” Cannon says.
