Hello to all you Questa Skatepark advocates!

We had been busy developing a presentation that we’d hoped to get the Questa School Board to allow us to have an assembly at the high school to inform youth about our skatepark plans and to engage them in the process of designs and logos. However, we didn’t have quite enough time to plan the assembly due to the Board’s other necessary activities. Possibly we can plan something for next school year! In the meantime…. We are moving forward!

Over the summer, we plan to be present at as many summer events as possible. We will be partnering with the Questa Del Rio News and will have a table at the Questa Art Market, in conjunction with the Questa Farmers Market, every Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm at the Questa Visitor Center. The Market dates are from May 29 through Cambalache on October 2, 10 am to 2 pm. We will be raffling off skateboards and scooters and selling t-shirts, and we’ll have flyers for more information on our plans. We will be taking subscriptions for Questa Del Rio News there as well.

Can you help us? We need our skatepark advocates to help us man or woman the table each Sunday at the Questa Farmers Market/ Questa Art Market. This is a great way to be outdoors and to be part of the fun in our family-friendly community events. We will need at least two people each Sunday at the Market. Bring your teens and younger kids—they will enjoy helping and being outdoors.

We are also asking our advocates to approach businesses for donations to continue promoting interest for the skatepark in the community. We have created a letter to present to businesses explaining our project, our goals, and what the funds will be used for. All donations are tax-deductible. The letter includes how to donate via PayPal and by credit card or check. We have already started asking businesses and individuals for their support and we have already started receiving donations.

In addition, we have been in contact with design/builders who are geographically close to Questa to let them know that we are interested in having a skatepark/wheeled sportspark built here. We will get a rough idea of the cost and a preliminary design that we can use to apply for grants.

Here again is the link for donations: www.localogy.org/donate. Click on the DONATE button on the link. It asks what the donation is for; so click on the drop-down box and choose Questa Skatepark.
Please feel free to email or text me if you have any questions, thoughts, concerns, or ideas; or to volunteer: laura_vallejos@yahoo.com; (575) 635-2934.

And please consider volunteering with the Skatepark advocates and Questa Del Rio News at the Sunday Market.

Thank you all for your support, hope to see you soon!
