Questa Jr./ Sr. High School has a new eSports team for students to participate in gaming competitions with students from other schools across the state.
Five computer monitors connected to Nintendo Switch devices line one wall of “The Dungeon,” the nickname given to the Questa Junior-Senior High School’s electronic sports room.
Three students as well as esports coordinator Domingo Torrez are focused on the game of Mario Kart, a video game where you race a variety of characters on different fantasy-themed tracks.
As the eSports team were warming up for a match against a Santa Rosa team, Torrez explained that players also have the option of competing from home for convenience. Classroom equipment for the esports team was mostly provided by the New Mexico Activities Association, some equipment was generously donated by Torrez.
